Jon M. Sebaly

Jon M. Sebaly

Dayton, Ohio
(937) 222-2522

Jon has been the heart and sole of the firm since its inception.  Along with Bev Shillito and Jim Dyer, he created a firm that reflected his vision of law as it should be practiced.  That vision formed the basis of the firm's Core Values.  From the first planning meetings, through the firm's early years, and continuing today, Jon has been the anchor of the firm.  His guidance, mentoring, and inspiration have been invaluable to everyone in the firm.

Jon's rich experience in the practice of law has included business litigation as well as business counseling.  He is a highly skilled litigator and trial attorney.  He has been responsible for extremely successful outcomes in cases involving complex antitrust issues, patent enforcement and disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, securities issues, and health care matters.  But he is equally adept at business counseling.  He has served as general counsel and has been a member of the board of directors of many companies in different industries.  He brings business "savvy" as well as a deep and thorough knowledge of the law to all of his endeavors.

Jon's impressive skills as a lawyer are matched by his talents as a business man.  His successful involvement in numerous business ventures has helped to make him extremely valuable as a counselor, legal and otherwise, to his clients.

The high level of respect that Jon enjoys is not limited to the confines of SS+D.  Jon has long enjoyed the reputation of being one of the Dayton area's finest attorneys and a community leader in the greater Dayton area.  He is a great supporter of the arts, including opera.  He has served as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Dayton Opera Association.

Jon was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1965, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 1966, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Tax Court in 1967. He received his B.A. in 1958, his M.A. in Economics in 1960, and his LL.B. in 1964, all from the University of Michigan, where he was a Regents Scholar. He is a member of the Dayton and Ohio State Bar Associations and a member of the Litigation and Antitrust Law Sections and the Board of Governors of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association.
